We recently visited Joburg for Sanlam HmC (see our roundup of the event here) and then we had our screen printing workshops the following weekend. So the week between those 2 events we went exploring a little bit. We had to still work and do emails so we did as much as possible considering everything in Joburg is 45minutes drive away.
First things first we needed to get our hands on some chicken and waffles at Mr Big Stuff. What a cool space, the wallpaper was my absolute favourite. Pattern, fun & loud, lets be honest thats right up my street! As someone who is a little lemon crazy, the lemonade slushy was so sour and amazing. The chicken and waffles was great too. All in all, worth a visit if you haven’t already!
We also ended up going to the Bryanston Organic Market. It is 20% organic produce and 80% stalls selling crafts, jewellery, clothes, shoes, you name it! I am normally quite sceptical of markets presuming I am going to see the same old African curio. It actually surprised me to be otherwise. Melissa got a pair of shoes and I bought some Christmas gifts for my mom. There was beautiful ceramics and tons to see. I recommend a visit for a casual morning walking around and browsing!
On the drive home we stopped at Zoo Lake to sit on a bench and take in the view.
We absolutely loved being tourists in Joburg for a few days! There is tons more to see. Next time we are thinking 27 Boxes and Maboneng. If you have any suggestions on what you think we must see, please let us know in the comment below or tweet us @zanaproducts
